It consists of injecting hot crude oil through the annulus at high speed so that the liquid column drags all the sediments and asphaltenes that clog the liner.
The HCGD technology or continuous hot crude injection, consists of heating and continuously reinjecting a volume of crude produced from the intervened well, in order to increase the temperature of the oil and decrease its viscosity to increase the production rate. Temperatures and pressures in the reinjection process are variable, determined by the specific characteristics of each well.
Twenty to 25% of the crude oil produced by the well is used to heat it to 446 ºF and reinject it into the producing sand through the annulus between the production line and the producing liner with the aid of a thermal packer that partially isolates the producing zone.
A well producing 11" API crude oil, with five steam cycles, which initially produced 20 BPD, reached production of 250 BPD with the injection of 80 BPD. Profit: 180 BPD.
• 50% lower production cost compared to alternate steam injection.
• The increase in production over time much greater than that achieved with alternative steam injection.
• Can be used in cases where steam injection is not feasible (wells with high water cut).
• As it is a continuous thermal method, it achieves future production stability.
• It does not increase the water cut in the crude oil.
• Does not require water or other chemical additives.
• Use a low consumption electric heater (250 kw for 250 bpd) or a gas heater.
